The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) announced that Yalitza Aparicio, the internationally acclaimed Mexican actress and Academy Award nominee, will receive the Georgia Latino Film Alliance Icon Award during the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF XV), scheduled for September 30–October 4, 2026, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.
The GALFA Icon Award is presented to individuals whose careers and influence have significantly advanced the visibility and appreciation of Latino culture in film and entertainment. Aparicio, known for her breakthrough role in Alfonso Cuarón's Roma, has become a symbol of cultural pride and representation, inspiring audiences globally. Her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, a historic milestone for Mexican and Latino talent in international cinema.
