Voyageur Pharmaceuticals Taps Fluor for Feasibility Studies on Iodine Production and Integrated Contrast Drug Facility

Voyageur Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (TSX.V: VM) (OTC Pink: VYYRF) has engaged Fluor Corporation, a global engineering and construction firm, to complete comprehensive feasibility studies for two strategic projects that would establish a vertically integrated North American supply chain for radiology contrast drugs. The studies, budgeted at US$2,350,000 for the iodine project, cover an iodine extraction and production facility in Oklahoma, USA, and Voyageur's planned integrated pharmaceutical manufacturing plant for barium and iodine contrast agents.

The iodine project, developed in collaboration with Bayer AG under a milestone-based funding agreement announced on February 23, 2026, uses Voyageur's patent-pending Meuller process to extract high-purity iodine from oilfield brine. The integrated manufacturing facility would combine domestically sourced iodine with high-purity barite from Voyageur's 100%-owned Frances Creek barium deposit in British Columbia, creating what the company describes as the first fully integrated 'Earth-to-Bottle' contrast media platform in North America. The studies are expected to be completed in early 2027, potentially leading to a construction decision later that year.

'We are thrilled to partner with Fluor to de-risk and accelerate these projects,' said Brent Willis, CEO of Voyageur Pharmaceuticals. 'With the iodine initiative and Fluor's technical expertise, we are moving decisively toward securing North America's supply chain for critical medical imaging drugs.' Fluor's expertise in process engineering, project economics, and large-scale industrial facility design will ensure the studies meet technical, environmental, and economic standards required for project financing and regulatory approvals.

Voyageur has already developed five barium contrast products with Health Canada licenses that are generating commercial sales. The company's strategy of owning raw material sources—including the Frances Creek barite project and the Mueller process for iodine—combined with its proprietary Streamline manufacturing technology, is expected to reduce operating costs and create a reliable North American supply chain, mitigating geopolitical and shortage risks for hospitals and patients in the United States and Canada.

Subject to successful feasibility study completion and further agreements, Voyageur and Bayer may advance the iodine project into a subsequent phase under an offtake-linked production financing arrangement. Bayer could provide capital financing while Voyageur would operate and manage the project. This engagement represents a major milestone in Voyageur's strategy to become the first fully integrated producer of both barium and iodine contrast agents on the continent.
