Vinhomes has unveiled the master plan for Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a 6,200-hectare integrated urban development adjacent to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay. This project, the company's largest to date, signals a shift in urban development metrics: success is no longer measured by land size alone, but by the value delivered per hectare to residents and the environment.
Historically, master-planned communities spanning 2,500 acres or more were considered large-scale, distinguished by mixed-use amenities (1). However, as cities face climate change, population growth, and evolving mobility, the OECD emphasizes that future cities must connect people to jobs and services, enhance climate resilience, and integrate nature (2). Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long embodies this new standard, planned as a fully integrated city rather than a residential complex.
Situated along the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway, the project leverages its strategic location at the intersection of northern Vietnam's tourism, industrial, and logistics corridors. Its proximity to the future depot station of the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway promises a 23-minute commute to Hanoi, blending metropolitan access with the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay. The city will feature six major districts offering villas, townhouses, shophouses, and high-rise apartments, all with views of the bay and access to clean air and waterfronts.
Sustainability is a core pillar, with over 2,500 hectares dedicated to green spaces, water bodies, and mangroves, including 680 hectares of naturally filtered seawater, 200 kilometers of coastline, and the 660-hectare Globe Ha Long Forest Park. These ecological assets support biodiversity and climate resilience, aligning with Vinhomes' ESG++ regenerative vision.
The city's amenities are extensive: a 60,000-seat outdoor waterfront venue, the 3,000-seat Wonder Theatre, an 81-hectare VinWonders with the world's largest aquarium park, and a convention center for 4,500 guests. Hospitality includes luxury hotels, integrated casino facilities, a 950-hectare golf complex with 12 courses, and Wonder Marina. Commerce thrives at Vincom Mega Mall and premium outlet shopping, while sports and wellness are served by a 13.3-hectare Sports District and 50 kilometers of cycling routes. Health and education are provided by the Vinmec Cleveland Clinic International Hospital and Vinschool campuses, among others.
Anchoring economic growth is a new CBD with 30- to 45-story office towers, positioning Ha Long as a major business hub. The project adheres to ISO 37125 for sustainable urban development and integrates smart technologies like AI and IoT for optimized city operations.
Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long exemplifies how connectivity, regeneration, and excellence can coalesce in a single planning framework, setting a new benchmark for future cities. This project not only redefines urban scale but also demonstrates a commitment to long-term sustainability and community wellbeing.
