NEW YORK — Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced a major shift in its business model, eliminating activation and upgrade fees for all postpaid customers and introducing simplified plan options designed to put customers first. The company is launching 'Verizon Simplicity,' a plan that offers unlimited data on its best 5G network for $45 per line, with a promotional price of $30 for new customers. Additionally, Verizon introduced 'Verizon One,' a bundled mobile and home internet plan for $70 per month with taxes and fees included.
The changes include the end of activation and upgrade fees, which can save customers up to $40 per device. Customers can opt in through the My Verizon app to join the new Verizon Loyalty program, which also introduces 'Verizon Dollars,' offering 3% back monthly that can be redeemed for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value at partner brands like Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. The loyalty program also includes 'Verizon Shine,' a weekly sweepstakes offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, VIP access to Outside Lands festival, and more.
'We’re fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do,' said Dan Schulman, Verizon CEO. 'For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don’t need, and so-called “rewards” with tons of caveats. We are working to ensure everything that we do is simple, clear and delightful.'
The 'Verizon Simplicity' plan eliminates network tiers, giving all customers access to Verizon’s best 5G network, including 5G Ultra Wideband, with no extra charge. The plan includes 10GB of premium mobile hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting. Customers can add home internet starting at $35 per month. For those wanting device upgrades, Simplicity Plus and Simplicity Pro options allow annual upgrades.
'With today’s news, we’re doubling down on what customers actually want: simpler experiences, less friction and more rewards for being a customer,' said Alfonso Villanueva, Interim CEO of Verizon Consumer Group and Chief Transformation Officer. 'We’re putting meaningful value back in their pockets, and making it feel easy and intuitive.'
Verizon One combines mobile and home internet on one bill, targeting customers new to Verizon. Priced at $70 per month with taxes and fees included, it leverages Verizon’s 5G network and fiber network. The plan is managed through the My Verizon app.
These announcements are part of Verizon’s multi-year transformation and are expected to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth while reducing churn. The company reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance. For more information, visit verizon.com/loyalty or the My Verizon app.
