Trilogy Metals Advances Arctic Project With Federal Permitting Application

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced that its 50/50 joint venture, Ambler Metals LLC, has initiated federal permitting for the Arctic Project in Alaska's Ambler Mining District by submitting a Clean Water Act Section 404 application to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The high-grade copper project, with an average grade of approximately 5% copper equivalent, is also expected to pursue FAST-41 program coverage to streamline permitting timelines, as the company advances engineering, environmental work, and field activities in support of a future investment decision.

The submission represents a critical milestone for the Arctic Project, which is one of the most significant undeveloped copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver deposits in North America. Located within the Ambler Mining District, the project is part of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) held by Ambler Metals. The district is renowned for its high-grade polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits and carbonate replacement deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver, and cobalt.

Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals, with South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, holding the other 50 percent. South32 exercised its option to form the joint venture in December 2019. The partnership combines Trilogy's local expertise with South32's operational and financial strength, positioning the project for potential development.

The FAST-41 program, established under the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act, is designed to expedite the environmental review and permitting process for major infrastructure projects. By seeking coverage under this program, Ambler Metals aims to reduce permitting timelines and provide greater certainty for the project's schedule. This could be pivotal for advancing the Arctic Project toward a final investment decision.

Exploration efforts have focused on two deposits within the Ambler Mining District: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit. Both are located within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, which provides a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy Metals' vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting and respecting subsistence livelihoods.

The permitting application is a key step in advancing the project, which could become a significant source of copper and other critical minerals for the United States. Copper is essential for electrical wiring, renewable energy systems, and electric vehicles, making domestic sources increasingly important. Trilogy Metals continues to advance engineering, environmental studies, and field activities to support a future investment decision. The company's progress in the Ambler Mining District underscores its commitment to responsible mineral development in Alaska, balancing economic opportunities with environmental stewardship and community engagement.
