Set in the fictional metropolis of Biggs City, the series follows five superpowered friends and family members: Red Runner, Red Rumbler, Bubblegum, Handsome Devil, and Captain Cosmetic. Together, they face extraordinary threats while dealing with considerably more familiar complications when the costumes come off. The result combines the irreverence, danger, and outrageous unpredictability of an adult superhero satire with the friendship, romance, careers, sex, humor, and social lives of a Black gay ensemble drama. The difference is that these superheroes actually want to be heroes.
At the center of the universe is Tights, a gay nightclub that serves as the group's social home and unofficial living room. Beneath it lies The Low Hangar, their secret superhero headquarters. That contrast reflects the series itself: spectacular superhero battles above a story fundamentally about relationships, identity, friendship, and family. Biggs City also provides an expanding canvas for original heroes, villains, and mythology, allowing THE BIG BANGERS to grow beyond a single story into a larger interconnected superhero universe.
