SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII), a developer of surgical robotic technologies, announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system has been approved for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines. The company also disclosed that more than 150 cumulative telesurgeries have been successfully performed using the system, primarily in India.
Among recent highlights, 18 inter-hospital telesurgeries were performed between two Indian cities on February 14, 2026, including 13 gastric bypass procedures by Dr. Mohit Bhandari from Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics in Indore, and 5 complex gynecological surgeries by Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar from HER Health Hospital in Bhopal. All procedures used the SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, a compact chair-based version that enhances portability and enables telesurgeries from various settings, including physician offices.
This follows a robotic telesurgery marathon on December 23, 2025, where nine surgeons performed 24 telesurgeries within 12 hours on patients across multiple Indian locations, covering ten different procedure types, including cardiac surgeries.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, "The SSi Mantra surgical robotic system continues to pioneer telesurgery, not merely in concept but in real-world practice and rapidly growing adoption by leading physicians. We are thrilled to receive approval for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines and to surpass 150 telesurgeries, indicating significant traction in enabling state-of-the-art remote surgical care."
The company is hosting the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2026 (SMRSC 2026) on April 9-11 in New Delhi, India, where over 20 live telesurgeries will be performed using the SSi Mantra. Registration is available at https://ssinnovations.com/SMRSC_2026/register/.
The SSi Mantra is a modular, multi-arm system with features such as 3 to 5 modular robotic arms, an open-faced surgeon command center, a 3D 4K monitor, and over 40 types of robotic instruments. It has been clinically validated in India for over 100 different surgical procedures.
The approvals in Indonesia and the Philippines, along with the milestone of 150 telesurgeries, underscore the growing adoption of telesurgery to overcome geographical barriers. As Dr. Srivastava noted, the technology empowers cross-sharing of expertise and drives equitable access to quality healthcare.
