SS Innovations International Inc. (NASDAQ: SSII), a developer of innovative surgical robotic technologies, has appointed veteran medical technology finance executive Sarah M. Romano as chief financial officer, effective August 3, 2026. The appointment adds public-company financial and capital markets experience as the company continues its global expansion and advances regulatory initiatives for its SSi Mantra robotic surgical platform.
Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised more than $100 million during her career. She most recently served as CFO at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw financial and operational initiatives designed to reduce cash burn and strengthen the company’s balance sheet.
The appointment comes as SS Innovations continues pursuing U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its SSi Mantra system while expanding internationally. The company recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (SSICRS) cardiac robotic surgery training program, welcoming 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries. This underscores the company’s emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment.
SS Innovations is preparing for FDA review of the SSi Mantra, which is already approved in several international markets. The company’s strategy involves building a global presence through training programs and regulatory approvals. Romano’s experience in capital markets and medtech finance is expected to support these efforts, particularly as the company manages its cash position and pursues growth opportunities.
