SS Innovations Appoints Veteran Medtech CFO as Global Robotic Surgery Expansion Gains Pace

SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII) has appointed veteran medical technology finance executive Sarah M. Romano as chief financial officer, effective August 3, 2026. Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised more than $100 million during her career. The appointment comes as SS Innovations continues pursuing U.S. FDA clearance for its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system while expanding internationally.

Romano joins SS Innovations after serving as chief financial officer at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw financial and operational initiatives designed to reduce cash burn and strengthen the company’s balance sheet. Her experience in capital markets is expected to be instrumental as SS Innovations prepares for broader commercialization and potential FDA review. The company has been actively working toward regulatory submission, as detailed in its FDA preparation updates.

SS Innovations recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (SSICRS) cardiac robotic surgery training program. The program welcomed 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries, underscoring the company’s emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment. This training initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a global ecosystem for robotic surgery, ensuring that healthcare providers are adequately trained to use the SSi Mantra system.

The company’s expansion efforts are not limited to the United States. SS Innovations has been actively pursuing international markets, leveraging its training programs and partnerships to establish a foothold in regions with growing demand for minimally invasive surgical technologies. The appointment of Romano, with her extensive experience in raising capital and managing public-company finances, is expected to support these global initiatives.

Forward-looking statements in the release highlight risks and uncertainties, including those detailed in the company’s SEC filings. For more information on SS Innovations and its latest developments, visit the company’s newsroom.
