Safe Pro Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAI) announced it has been awarded a $1.3 million U.S. Government subcontract under Forterra, a leading U.S. Defense Prime Contractor, to integrate its real-time AI-powered threat detection technology into autonomous unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). This award expands the use of Safe Pro’s patented Safe Pro Object Threat Detection (SPOTD) beyond aerial/drone-based imagery to ground-based platforms.
SPOTD uses artificial intelligence trained on a large dataset of drone imagery to rapidly detect and identify small objects and threats, including landmines. The integration into UGVs enhances the capability to autonomously detect threats in challenging environments, reducing risk to personnel and accelerating response times. Safe Pro was also recently contracted to provide U.S. Army edge AI operational support for an airfield exercise, further expanding the company’s role in force protection applications.
The new contract underscores the growing demand for advanced AI-driven solutions in defense and security. By embedding SPOTD into UGVs, Safe Pro aims to address critical needs in military operations, such as route clearance and perimeter security. The technology’s ability to operate at the edge—processing data locally on the vehicle—ensures real-time decision-making without reliance on cloud connectivity, a crucial advantage in contested environments.
Safe Pro Group, a mission-driven tech company delivering advanced security and defense solutions, continues to strengthen its position in the defense sector. The company’s focus on AI and autonomous systems aligns with broader military modernization efforts.
