In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for a lifetime of service, Rooftop Relief, a leading roofing contractor in Cincinnati, OH, has completed a complimentary gutter installation for local military veteran Jerry Townsley. The donation, part of the company's expanding annual Veteran program, underscores the importance of recognizing and supporting those who have served our country.
When severe storms damaged the gutters on Townsley's barn in Greater Cincinnati, he reached out to Rooftop Relief to inquire about a standard military discount for the repair work. Upon learning of Townsley's distinguished service record—including four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59) and 20 years in the U.S. Air Force at Rickenbacker Air Force Base—co-founders Jerry Vineyard and Ryan Collins decided that a simple discount was insufficient. Instead, they chose to replace the entire seamless gutter system on the barn completely free of charge.
“When Mr. Townsley called us asking for a Veteran discount after severe storm damage tore up his barn's gutters, Ryan and I looked at his decades of service in the Navy, Air Force, and civil service and knew right away—a discount wasn't enough. Replacing his gutters completely free of charge was the least we could do to show our gratitude,” said Jerry Vineyard, co-founder of Rooftop Relief.
Townsley's life is a testament to dedication. A graduate of Milford High School (Class of 1961), he entered military service shortly after graduation, spending four years on active duty with the Navy. He then continued with 20 years in the Air Force, followed by 39 years of civil service, culminating in a remarkable career of contributions to community and country.
This donation is the latest expansion of Rooftop Relief's annual Veteran roof donation Greater Cincinnati initiative. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, Rooftop Relief has built a reputation for high-quality storm damage inspections, residential roof replacements, and seamless gutter installations throughout Loveland and the surrounding areas.
“Our annual Veteran program started with roofs, but stories like Jerry Townsley's remind us that home protection involves the complete exterior,” added co-founder Ryan Collins. “Whether it's a storm-damaged roof or seamless gutters on a barn, we want to ensure our local Veterans have safe, durable structures protecting their property.”
The company encourages residents across Loveland and Greater Cincinnati to nominate deserving Veterans for future free roofing and exterior repair projects under the Rooftop Relief program. Family members, neighbors, and community organizations can submit nominations directly through the company's website.
