RHON-KLINIKUM AG has reported a stable business performance for the first half of 2026, with consolidated revenue reaching EUR 863.6 million, slightly above the previous year's EUR 833.5 million. EBITDA improved to EUR 57.0 million from EUR 46.7 million, and consolidated profit rose to EUR 22.5 million from EUR 14.7 million. The results were impacted by immediate transformation costs aimed at offsetting higher personnel and material costs from prior years. Patient numbers increased by 9% to 513,700 across the group's hospitals and medical care centers.
The company is focusing on expanding regional health networks to improve healthcare provision. In Hesse, Universitatsklinikum Marburg and Lungenfachklinik Immenhausen have formed a strategic partnership to enhance lung patient care. In Brandenburg, a new child protection emergency service at the Frankfurt (Oder) site has been launched, supported by cooperation agreements with local authorities. Dr. Gunther K. WeiB, Board Member, emphasized the importance of regional networks: "Regional networks form a vital and essential part of any future healthcare system. Rigid sectoral boundaries make it more difficult to provide patients with the care they need and saddle our healthcare system with unnecessary costs."
However, the company faces significant challenges from recent legislative changes. Dr. Stefan Stranz, Board Member, criticized the Statutory Health Insurance Contribution Rate Stabilization Act, stating it "imposes further burdens on hospitals. Instead of reducing bureaucracy and refocusing on patient care, the reform saddles already overburdened hospitals with even more documentation requirements, excessive budget cuts, and financial risks." The Hospital Reform Adjustment Act (KHAG) and the GKV-BStabG are expected to increase financial pressure on hospitals in the short term, despite aiming to improve quality and efficiency.
For the full year 2026, RHON-KLINIKUM AG forecasts revenues of EUR 1.7 billion (plus or minus 5%) and EBITDA between EUR 110 million and EUR 125 million. The company also expects moderate improvements in patient numbers and cost weights. However, the outlook is subject to uncertainties due to ongoing regulatory changes, global crises, and economic volatility. The interim report is available on the company's website.
