Quantum BioPharma Cuts Expenses, Advances Lucid-MS to Phase 2 for Progressive MS

Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) has announced a 53% year-over-year reduction in operating expenses for the second quarter of 2026, alongside a 47% decrease in general and administrative expenses. The company's cash position has strengthened, and it has received FDA approval to advance its lead candidate, Lucid-MS, into a Phase 2 clinical trial for progressive multiple sclerosis.

The financial results, reported on August 17, 2026, show operating expenses of $2.29 million for Q2 2026, down from $4.87 million in the same period last year. General and administrative expenses fell to $1.76 million from $3.32 million. As of June 30, 2026, the company held approximately $9.5 million in cash, cash equivalents, and digital assets, a significant increase from $4.1 million at the end of 2025. Management states that current liquidity is sufficient to fund planned operations through at least October 2027, based on the first-half 2026 burn rate.

Subsequent to the quarter-end, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Quantum's Investigational New Drug (IND) application for Lucid-MS, clearing the way for a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 trial in patients with progressive multiple sclerosis. This milestone is critical for Quantum, as Lucid-MS is a patented new chemical entity that has shown in preclinical models the ability to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying cause of multiple sclerosis.

Quantum BioPharma is dedicated to building a portfolio of assets for challenging neurodegenerative, metabolic, and alcohol misuse disorders. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., the company is focusing on the development of Lucid-MS. The company also holds a 19.84% stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., which markets the OTC version of its invented product UNBUZZD(TM), and is entitled to royalty payments of 7% of sales until they total $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity.

The reduction in expenses and the advancement of Lucid-MS into Phase 2 are key steps for Quantum as it seeks to address significant unmet medical needs. The company's strengthened balance sheet provides a runway to support these development efforts. For more details on the full press release, visit https://nnw.fm/dlAAe.
