Quantum BioPharma Advances Lucid-MS and Commercial Products, Executive Details Strategy in Podcast

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its lead drug candidate Lucid-MS for multiple sclerosis while simultaneously capitalizing on commercial opportunities with its unbuzzd product, according to Executive Co-Chairman and Co-Founder Anthony Durkacz in a recent episode of the BioMedWire Podcast. Durkacz detailed the company’s strategy for Lucid-MS, which aims to address mobility damage associated with MS, and noted that the company has filed an investigational new drug application for a Phase 2 clinical trial—potentially the first administration of the candidate to human MS patients.

“Lucid-MS is a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation in preclinical models,” Durkacz said. The drug targets the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis, a disease affecting millions worldwide. The progression to Phase 2 represents a critical milestone for Quantum BioPharma, moving from preclinical success to human testing.

Alongside its clinical pipeline, Quantum BioPharma is pursuing commercial revenue through unbuzzd, a product designed to accelerate alcohol metabolism. The company spun out the over-the-counter version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc. (UWI), led by industry veterans, while retaining a 19.84% ownership stake as of March 31, 2026, and royalty payments: 7% of sales until $250 million is paid, then 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma also retains full rights to develop pharmaceutical versions of the product. Durkacz underscored this dual approach: “We are combining clinical-stage pharmaceutical development with commercial opportunities across neurodegenerative, metabolic and alcohol-misuse conditions.”

The company’s strategy reflects a broader trend in biotech where firms seek near-term revenue from commercial products to fund long-term drug development. Quantum BioPharma’s portfolio includes drug candidates for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, with Lucid-MS as the lead asset. The Phase 2 trial will be a key determinant of Lucid-MS’s potential, and investors are closely watching for results.
