PFISTERER is significantly expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a $2.7 million investment in its Rochester, New York, facility. The investment will add three CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment to increase production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times. This move underscores the company's commitment to the North American market and its strategy to localize production for U.S. customers.
The expansion comes as more than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States. By shifting production closer to demand, the company aims to improve delivery times, enhance flexibility, and strengthen resilience in a key growth market. Rochester will play a central role in PFISTERER's global production network, supporting its "Local-for-Local" approach that reduces transportation-related emissions and improves responsiveness to customer needs.
SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system, designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections across a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections. The connectors are electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A, and have also been tested to the North American standard ANSI C119.4. Notably, SICON connectors are the only ones that meet the Class 2 requirements of this standard, making them particularly relevant for power infrastructure expansion and, especially, for data center power supply.
The rapid expansion of data centers in the U.S. and globally is driving increased demand for reliable, high-performance connections to the power grid. Data centers require secure and scalable power supply, and SICON connectors help ensure that critical digital infrastructure operates without interruption. By increasing production capacity in Rochester, PFISTERER is positioning itself to meet this surging demand and strengthen its presence in a high-growth market.
Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE, commented on the investment: "With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market. We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."
The investment is part of PFISTERER's broader growth strategy in North America. With 19 locations in 15 countries and customers in more than 90 countries, the company has a long history of providing safe and reliable power connections for energy infrastructure. Founded in 1921, PFISTERER designs, manufactures, and distributes products for connecting and insulating electrical conductors in high-, medium-, and low-voltage networks. Its solutions are used across the entire value chain, from power generation and transmission to distribution.
