On June 28, 2026, the Peace Rides motorcycle group held their monthly ride through South Central Los Angeles, continuing a 14-year tradition of promoting peace and supporting families affected by violence. The ride began at a local Park & Ride and concluded at Athens Park, with participants carrying a message of unity and healing rather than retaliation.
Among the riders was a 70-year-old professional wedding photographer attending his first Peace Ride. His life was forever changed by the tragic loss of his 32-year-old grandson, who was fatally shot following an argument. The young man, described by his grandfather as a productive member of the community, leaves behind 12 children. Rather than seeking revenge, the grandfather chose to honor his grandson's memory by joining a motorcycle group that participates in the monthly Peace Rides, hoping his example can prevent other families from experiencing similar tragedy.
During the event, he was presented a copy of The Way to Happiness, a common-sense guide to better living. He accepted it with gratitude and took additional copies to share with others, spreading a message of peace, compassion, and personal responsibility. For 14 years, the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International has donated these booklets to the Peace Rides events. The Way to Happiness is written by L.
