Parent Coaching Institute Founder's Book Selection to Be Reprinted in Japanese University Textbook

The Parent Coaching Institute (PCI) announced that its founder and CEO, Gloria DeGaetano, will have a portion of her book Screen Smarts reprinted in a Japanese textbook used by Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU). The selection, titled "As Children Grow: Screen Influence," will appear in two editions: one current through 2027 and another for 2027-2029. The inclusion features a simple Japanese translation and explanation to help high school students understand the text's meaning and grammatical points.

Kwansei Gakuin University, located in the Kansai region with its main campus in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, also has campuses in Sanda, Osaka, and Tokyo. The university partners with 320 institutions and 60 organizations worldwide, underscoring the prestige of this recognition. DeGaetano expressed her honor at being contacted by KGU, noting their meticulous attention to detail throughout the reprint process.

The 2027-2029 edition is published by Kyogakusha, based in Kyoto, in affiliation with KGU's Schools of Theology, Sociology, Economics, International Studies, and Education. Kyogakusha specializes in publishing collections of past university entrance exams, making them affordable for high school students, typically around 17 years old, who may lack access to private tutoring.

DeGaetano emphasized the enduring importance of the message in Screen Smarts: "The more children stare into a two-dimensional flat surface, the less their brain develops optimally. Tech cannot do what sensory and lived experiences do to help little humans flourish." This principle remains central to the parent coach training program she developed at PCI.

The Parent Coaching Institute, recognized as an innovative leader in family support, offers a year-long online Parent Coach Certification® program in affiliation with Southern New Hampshire University. Applications for the 2026 Fall Term, starting mid-September, are being accepted until September 1. For more information, visit www.ThePCI.org.
