The Martial Arts History Museum in Glendale, California, will host an Honor Day on May 9, 2026, to celebrate the achievements of Sean Kanan, the actor best known for playing Mike Barnes in The Karate Kid Part III and reprising the role in the Netflix series Cobra Kai. The event, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., will include tributes, photo montages, and a meet-and-greet with the honoree.
Kanan, who also portrayed Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful, has been recognized for his philanthropic work, particularly in youth mentorship and community empowerment. Michael Matsuda, president of the museum, stated, "Sean Kanan embodies the spirit of martial arts both on and off the mat."
The afternoon will feature special guest presenters including Shihan Chris Pellitteri, a 9th-degree black belt; Darryl Vidal, a 10th-degree black belt and original The Karate Kid cast member; William Christopher Ford, a 5th-degree black belt who appeared alongside Kanan in The Karate Kid Part III; and Gerard L. Noonan, a 3rd-degree black belt in World Tae Kwon Do Federation.
In addition to the ceremony, the museum will screen The Real Miyagi at 12 p.m. and The Karate Kid Part III at 2 p.m., followed by a Q&A session. Kanan will donate a signed poster to support the Palisades Fire Residents Coalition, and the first 100 attendees will receive a special gift bag.
