The Lonza Board of Directors has nominated Stephen Fry as an Independent Member of the Board, subject to election at the company's Annual General Meeting in May 2026. If elected, Fry will also serve on the People and Governance Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee, according to a company announcement.
Fry brings more than three decades of pharmaceutical industry experience, having spent his entire career at Eli Lilly and Company. He held various international, operational and executive leadership roles, culminating in his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for 12 years. In that role, he led large-scale organizational transformation, shaped high-performance cultures and helped navigate the company through significant change. Fry also serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Indianapolis.
Jean-Marc Huet, Chairman of the Board at Lonza, commented: “The Board of Directors extends its warmest congratulations to Stephen for his nomination to the Board. Stephen brings extensive international experience, combined with a strong track record in organizational governance, succession planning and people strategy development, all of which form a valuable complementary fit with the capabilities of our other Board members.” Huet added that Fry will play an important role in helping develop and embed Lonza's performance culture, supporting the company's ambition to attract and retain world-leading talent.
Lonza, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, is the world's largest contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) serving the healthcare industry. With approximately 20,000 colleagues across five continents, the company works with pharma and biotech firms to turn breakthroughs into viable therapies. In full-year 2025, Lonza generated sales of CHF 6.5 billion with a CORE EBITDA of CHF 2.1 billion.
The nomination comes as Lonza continues to strengthen its board with leaders who have deep industry experience. Fry's background in organizational transformation and people strategy is particularly relevant as the company seeks to enhance its performance culture and attract top talent. The move underscores Lonza's focus on governance and strategic human capital management to support its growth objectives in the competitive CDMO market.
