Jett Foundation has announced the launch of a capital campaign to fund the construction of Jett’s Place, a premier wellness and retreat center designed as a dedicated sanctuary for individuals and families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The campaign, which aims to raise $10.7 million, has already secured over $5 million during its quiet phase, anchored by two transformative $1 million donations from the Emilson Family and ITF Therapeutics.
Located on a 10-acre campus in Norwell, Massachusetts, Jett’s Place will serve as Jett Foundation’s national headquarters and provide barrier-free accessibility, specialized wellness care, adaptive nature and recreation, and educational programs. The facility’s design incorporates input from Duchenne families to ensure it meets the unique needs of the community. According to the foundation, the center will offer a safe and inclusive environment where families can access resources and support tailored to the progressive nature of DMD.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive neuromuscular disorder diagnosed in childhood, causing loss of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function, and premature death. It affects approximately 1 in 5,000 live male births and some females. Currently, there is no cure for Duchenne, and children typically lose the ability to walk around age 12, with life expectancy in the early to mid-twenties.
Jett Foundation has been serving the Duchenne community since 2001, focusing on empowering individuals and families through transformative programming, education, and ongoing support. The new facility represents a significant expansion of their mission, providing a physical hub for these efforts. The Emilson Family and ITF Therapeutics, the U.S. affiliate of Italfarmaco Group established in 2024, have committed $1 million each to the campaign. ITF Therapeutics develops treatments for rare diseases and emphasizes community partnerships to shape innovative solutions.
