Infrastructure Capital Launches Nasdaq Option Income ETF (QVOL) in Partnership with Nasdaq

Infrastructure Capital (ICA) announced the launch of the Infrastructure Capital Nasdaq Option Income ETF (QVOL), a new exchange-traded fund listed on the Nasdaq. QVOL seeks to deliver high monthly income and capital appreciation by investing in companies within the Nasdaq Composite Index while actively writing options to generate premium income.

The fund differentiates itself from competitor buy-write and option overlay strategies by actively managing both its equity portfolio and option activity in tandem. According to ICA, QVOL will selectively write options on Nasdaq equities or indexes, focusing on companies it believes are overvalued, and use short-duration options to limit upside caps. This approach aims to allow greater participation in market upside compared to systematic, long-duration index option writing used by many peers.

QVOL's equity allocations will be flexible, selecting investments across the Nasdaq Composite Index based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, including relative value indicators. The fund will provide exposure to major tech companies, often referred to as the Magnificent Seven, while seeking undervalued opportunities within the broader index. ICA emphasizes that the Nasdaq Composite and Nasdaq-100 are highly correlated, with top holdings substantially overlapping.

Infrastructure Capital's investment process for QVOL involves screening equities using factors such as price-to-book value, price-to-earnings ratios, and profitability metrics relative to peers. The firm's philosophy centers on discipline, consistency, and risk management, with sell decisions driven by excessive valuation, better opportunities, or changes in fundamental outlook.

Jay Hatfield, lead portfolio manager for all Infrastructure Capital funds, brings over 30 years of experience. As of the launch, ICA manages more than $3.5 billion in assets. The firm, based in New York City, specializes in infrastructure-related sectors including energy, real estate, and utilities, and often invests in entities like MLPs and REITs.

QVOL joins ICA's existing ETF lineup, which includes the Infrastructure Capital Bond Income ETF (BNDS), Infrastructure Capital Small Cap Income ETF (SCAP), and others. The fund is distributed by Quasar Distributors, LLC.
