The 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show opened today at AsiaWorld-Expo, running for five consecutive days, while the 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will be held from 4 to 8 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the twin shows reinforce their position as the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace, according to Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC.
This year's events bring together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, with 70% coming from outside Hong Kong, highlighting the highly international nature of the fairs. The two shows operate under a 'Two Shows, Two Venues' format, presenting an extensive spectrum of product categories including diamonds, gemstones, pearls, finished jewellery, designer brands, and industry technologies.
The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show features more than 20 pavilions representing countries and trade organisations, such as Germany, Italy, Colombia, the United States, India, and Thailand. Notably, the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion is making its debut, bringing together 11 exhibitors from Zhushan County in Hubei Province, known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Turquoise'. The Tanzanite Foundation and the International Colored Gemstone Association also participate, with the latter presenting 37 exhibitors showcasing rare coloured gemstones.
Key product zones at the show include the Hall of Fine Diamonds, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean, highlighting high-end diamonds, natural gemstones, and pearls. For instance, Hong Kong exhibitor Arihant Star (HK) Limited (Booth: AWE 5--C15) showcases a fancy intense pink VVS2 diamond, while U.S. exhibitor Emco Gem Inc. (Booth: AWE 7--H01) presents an 11-carat cushion-cut Colombian emerald. French exhibitor Alain Boite S.A.S. (Booth: AWE 1--A20) exhibits a freshwater pearl strand measuring 14 to 15.8 mm.
Industry seminars and events are scheduled throughout the show, including a seminar by De Beers on natural diamond market trends, a session on gemstone provenance and ethical traceability by Gem Lab Gübelin Gem Lab Limited, and a special promotion conference for Zhushan Turquoise. The GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited (Booth: AWE 9--M03) will launch a new coloured gemstone report providing clearer information on stone type, processing, and origin.
The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, opening Wednesday, will feature 20 group pavilions, including the debut of the World Gold Council's Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. The creative design zone, Designer Galleria, will showcase about 50 designer exhibitors, while the Hall of Fame has expanded by more than 40% to present a broader selection of international jewellery brands.
To facilitate buyer visits, the HKTDC offers free shuttle bus services between AsiaWorld-Expo and urban areas, including the HKCEC. Special measures for Muslim buyers include dedicated prayer rooms, shuttle buses to local mosques, and a list of Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants. The HKTDC has also partnered with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to provide exclusive buyer privileges for dining, air tickets, and hotels.
The twin shows adopt an Exhibition+ hybrid format, with the AI-powered Click2Match platform providing online business matching from 23 February to 13 March. Physical buyers can use Scan2Match to scan exhibitor QR codes and continue discussions online. Buyers can enhance their efficiency by completing registration and verification through the HKTDC Marketplace App and official websites.
