HKTDC Food Expo Opens with Focus on Wellness and Global Flavours

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened its 36th Food Expo, along with the Beauty & Wellness Expo and Home Delights Expo, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 13, 2026. The concurrent fairs, running until August 17, bring together over 1,850 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, showcasing a wide range of food, tea, home living, beauty, and wellness products. Under the central theme 'Live Well. Stay Well,' the events aim to encourage the public to embrace healthy and quality living.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, accompanied by Dr. Jonathan Choi, Council Member of the HKTDC, and Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC. Dr. Choi highlighted the importance of wellness in everyday life, stating that the fairs offer products and experiences that support healthier, happier, and more balanced lifestyles. Ms. Chong emphasized Hong Kong's role as a bridge connecting the Chinese Mainland and international markets, fostering cross-border collaboration in the food and health industries.

The fairs feature 'Five Themed Days' to promote quality living. The first day, 'Happy Eat Happy Life,' focuses on balanced nutrition with products like cistanche health drinks, ready-to-eat bird's nest, and organic dried blueberries. The 'Beauty & Wellness Expo' offers free health assessments and consultations. The second day, 'The World in Blink,' showcases global delicacies such as South African honey, Finnair's inflight chocolates, and Chiu Chow style foie gras toast. Cultural activities like embroidery workshops and ethnic dance performances add an international flavor.

'Coffee or Tea?' day highlights the Coffee Zone with Yunnan coffee and rare teas at the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, including purple bud raw Pu'er tea and ceremonial-grade matcha. New zones like the Yixing Zisha Teaware Pavilion and 'Tea Lifestyle' area demonstrate the integration of tea culture into modern living. The fourth day, 'Stay Fresh, Stay Ahead,' features premium fresh produce, including the new 'Hong Kong Harvest' brand from local fishery and vegetable organizations, and the 'Gourmet Zone' celebrating its 15th edition with star chef demonstrations.

The final day, 'Let's Chill,' introduces the 'Stay Relax' zone in the Beauty & Wellness Expo with red-light therapy pods, and the 'Go Sleep Exp' by the Sleep Health Association, exploring sleep wellness. The Food Expo also debuts a Dessert and Gelato Theme with over 100 desserts and speciality ice creams.

For trade visitors, Food Expo PRO introduces a new 'Meat Zone' and a 'Food Science and Technology Zone' focusing on alternative foods and future food technologies. It also expands into pet food products for the first time. The halal food and beverage label returns for the third year, with over 130 exhibitors participating.

The International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) runs concurrently, focusing on 'Clinical Translation, Regulatory Policies and Global Innovative Pathways of Traditional Medicine.' The conference has been expanded to three days, featuring over 30 speakers from various countries, and is held in a hybrid format to facilitate wider participation.

To celebrate the HKTDC's 60th anniversary, special promotions include free admission before noon with designated leaflets (limited to 600 visitors per day) and '6'-themed offers from exhibitors. Visitors can also participate in daily lucky draws and the 'August Happy Buy' campaign website for savings. E-tickets are available through multiple platforms, and no physical tickets will be issued.

The fairs are open to the public with various admission options, including morning and evening tickets, concessionary prices for persons with disabilities, and free admission for children under three and seniors aged 65 or above. The events underscore Hong Kong's role as a key food trading hub, promoting wellness trends and cross-border trade.
