From Wealth to Purpose: Frank Giustra's New Memoir Challenges the Ultra-Rich to Rethink Success

Frank Giustra, the Canadian entrepreneur who built a fortune in mining and entertainment, is set to release his memoir, The Money Dilemma: My Unlikely Path to Wealth, Philanthropy, and Peace, on November 3, 2026. The book, published by Page Two, offers a candid look at Giustra's realization that achieving financial success did not bring him contentment, and how he found purpose through giving back.

Giustra, once a Type-A Merrill Lynch broker and a powerhouse at Yorkton Securities, reached the pinnacle of business success. He built some of the world's most significant gold companies and founded Lionsgate, the largest independent movie studio in Hollywood. Yet, it wasn't until he committed to helping others that he found a level of contentment that no amount of money can buy.

In The Money Dilemma, Giustra details his evolution from a high-stakes financier to a global philanthropic leader. His journey turns gradually from getting to giving, consumption to compassion, and from fame and fortune to friends and family. The memoir is a candid, entertaining, and moving account of a remarkable life that challenges the ultra-rich to rethink the meaning and potential of their wealth.

Giustra's determination to alleviate poverty has led him to donate over $250 million to humanitarian initiatives to date. Central to this effort is Acceso, the social business builder he launched in 2007 to combat global poverty through entrepreneurial solutions, particularly agribusiness ventures in Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, and Guatemala. Through Acceso and the Giustra Foundations, he has advanced sustainable solutions to food insecurity, youth education, support for children and families, community development, and refugee resettlement.

Giustra's philanthropic work has earned him recognition as a Member of the Order of Canada, an inductee of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, and recipient of the inaugural Dalai Lama Humanitarian Award. He has worked with President Bill Clinton and through his own initiatives to advance efforts focused on women and children, poverty alleviation, food security, education, and homelessness.
