Drug-Free World Reaches Thousands with Prevention Education at Los Angeles Heritage Festival

The Drug-Free World Foundation brought its drug-prevention education campaign to the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Heritage Festival on June 27–28, reaching more than 1,000 festival attendees and FIFA World Cup fans with educational materials promoting informed, drug-free choices. The two-day event coincided with a FIFA World Cup watch party and Fan Zone at nearby Union Station, allowing volunteers to engage a diverse audience of Angelenos, families, soccer fans, and visitors.

Thousands attended the festival over the weekend, with many touring the Drug-Free World Mobile Exhibit. Through outreach at the festival and the FIFA Fan Zone, volunteers distributed Truth About Drugs educational booklets and sparked meaningful conversations about the dangers of substance abuse. One retired social worker with over 30 years of experience working with pregnant teenagers struggling with addiction expressed strong support for the materials and took 200 booklets to share with her church community.

A physician's assistant who visited the exhibit also praised the program and later ordered an Educator's Kit from the organization's website. The exhibit provided a platform for Spanish-speaking community members to share personal stories of loved ones affected by drugs, highlighting the campaign's cultural relevance. Volunteers also developed relationships with local businesses along Olvera Street, placing educational displays on counters and food trucks to extend the campaign's reach.

By the end of the weekend, Drug-Free World had reached approximately 1,000 people, provided tours of the Mobile Exhibit, and collected pledges from individuals committing to drug-free lives. In total, 13,700 Truth About Drugs booklets were distributed, and the campaign established a new community partnership to enhance future drug-prevention education efforts. The initiative underscores the importance of proactive education in combating drug abuse, a critical issue given the ongoing challenges of addiction and its societal impact. By engaging directly with communities and providing accessible resources, Drug-Free World continues to empower individuals to make informed decisions, as highlighted by the foundation's commitment to spreading awareness through events like the Heritage Festival.
