His research on prostate cancer, particularly racial disparities affecting African American men, has led to more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduates at accredited colleges or universities and on a pre-med track or pursuing a path toward an MD or DO. They must remain in good academic standing and submit a complete application by April 15, 2027. The required essay asks students to respond in 500–750 words to the question: “Dr. Wael Sakr has spent his career advancing medicine through research, mentorship, and a commitment to addressing healthcare disparities.
