Charbone Corporation (TSXV: CH; OTCQB: CHHYF; FSE: K47), a vertically integrated industrial gases company focused on clean ultra-high purity (UHP) hydrogen and other strategic gases, has announced significant progress at its Sorel-Tracy facility in Quebec. The company has initiated Phase 1B civil construction and successfully received and installed a cutting-edge gas chromatography system for on-site batch purity testing of its UHP hydrogen.
Heavy civil construction equipment has arrived on-site, and Charbone's general contractor and subcontractor teams have begun work. Surveyors have completed all necessary site markings for the construction of production areas, preparing for the arrival of production equipment in the coming weeks and the construction of the operation and maintenance building. This marks the official start of the Phase 1B construction stage, which includes readying the technological infrastructure and laying foundational structures for subsequent assembly of primary equipment. The company expects to make its upgraded production capacity operational during the upcoming fall.
In parallel, a state-of-the-art gas chromatography system has been deployed by a world-renowned firm specializing in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied markets. This system is specifically engineered for high-purity hydrogen analysis, identifying traces of impurities and ensuring compliance with purity gas standards. By enabling on-site batch testing, the equipment allows Charbone to easily verify its stringent purity benchmarks, potentially enhancing sales among customers requiring effective testing solutions.
“Our upgraded operations in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Canada, represent another cornerstone of our strategic growth and our commitment toward our shareholders and customers to a world class unique plant in its kind,” said Dave Gagnon, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Charbone. “We are proud to be a leader in high purity gases, fostering innovation and creating opportunities as we expand our sustainable practices.”
Charbone's vertically integrated model focuses on developing and operating a network of supply hubs for production, storage, and distribution of UHP strategic industrial gases. The company serves customers across semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, advanced pharmaceuticals, and aerospace and defense technologies, where UHP gases are critical for high-precision manufacturing. By advancing a modular, decentralized approach, Charbone aims to provide reliable supply to mid-tier industrial gas customers often underserved by larger suppliers.
These updates underscore Charbone's commitment to scaling its clean hydrogen production capabilities and meeting growing demand for high-purity gases. The installation of the metrology equipment not only ensures product quality but also positions the company to capture more sales in sectors requiring rigorous purity testing. With Phase 1B construction underway, Charbone is on track to deliver its upgraded capacity, supporting the global transition to a lower-carbon economy through accessible, localized clean energy solutions.
