Centenario Gold Corp. (TSXV: CTG) announced today that it has started the first phase work program on the Los Reyes Project, a copper and gold exploration asset located near Chihuahua, Mexico. The initial phase includes detailed mapping and sampling of the old underground mine workings found along a N-S trending contact zone that extends for 1 km. These workings date back to the early 1900s and have never been systematically sampled.
Following the underground mapping and sampling, the company will begin a 1,500-meter diamond drilling program designed to test depth extensions of the high-grade Cu-Zn-Ag skarn zone previously mined by ASARCO. The environmental study report has been submitted, and permits are expected by late April 2026, with drilling to commence immediately thereafter.
The Los Reyes property is located approximately 170 km south-southeast of Chihuahua City, along Highway 49. It covers an important area of historical mining centered on the western contact of a 2 km diameter granodiorite intrusive body. Mining activities date back to the early 1700s, and in the late 1800s, ASARCO mined approximately 200,000 tons of high-grade Cu-Zn-Ag material from the Jibosa workings.
Most recent exploration was completed by Valterra Resource Corporation in 2019, which reported surface sampling results from waste dumps and outcrop chip samples. The average copper grade was 3.1%, with 22 of 28 samples exceeding 1% Cu. Anomalous samples also contained elevated precious and base metals, reaching up to 0.57 g/t Au, 25.3 g/t Ag, 0.47% Mo, and 1.7% Zn. The exploration target is over 100 meters in width and hosts multiple zones of strongly copper-enriched mineralization.
The qualified person for the technical disclosure is Derrick Strickland, an independent Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. The company notes that the qualified person has not verified information on adjacent properties, and mineralization on similar properties is not necessarily indicative of mineralization on the Los Reyes property.
Centenario Gold Corp. is a mineral exploration company incorporated in British Columbia, focused on high-potential projects in the Americas, particularly gold, copper, and silver. The company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and continues to evaluate new opportunities. Further information is available on the company's website at www.centenariogold.com.
This announcement underscores Centenario's commitment to advancing the Los Reyes project, which has significant historical production and untested potential at depth. The systematic sampling and drilling program aim to confirm and expand upon historical results, potentially leading to the delineation of a substantial mineral resource.
