Boerne Named Finalist in Hallmark Channel's Merriest Christmas Town Contest

Boerne, Texas, has been named a finalist in Hallmark Channel's 2026 Merriest Christmas Town contest, placing it among 25 communities nationwide vying for the title. This marks Boerne as the only Texas community in this year's finalist pool. The voting period, which opened recently, runs through Friday, September 4, with participants allowed to cast one vote per day for Boerne.

The recognition underscores what locals and visitors have long appreciated: Boerne's holiday season, with its small-town charm, community traditions, and festive events, turns a stroll along the historic Hill Country Mile into an experience reminiscent of a Christmas movie. Mayor Frank Ritchie emphasized the community's role, stating, "At the center of the celebration are the people who are part of our wonderful community. That sense of community is what has helped Boerne build a reputation as a Texas Hill Country destination throughout the holiday season."

Central to Boerne's holiday appeal is Dickens on Main, an event that takes over the Hill Country Mile during Thanksgiving weekend. It features live entertainment, holiday activities, and Victorian-inspired characters and decorations. Tori Bellos, Visit Boerne Marketing Specialist, noted, "What makes Christmas in Boerne so special is that it's truly a community effort. Our role is to help visitors discover everything that makes Boerne unique while making sure our local businesses have the information and resources they need to welcome them."

The festive spirit continues with Weihnachts Weekend, the annual nighttime Weihnachts Parade, and Kinder Fest, along with holiday markets, shopping events, and other activities throughout December. However, Boerne's selection is about more than just lights and decorations. Kim Blohm, President and CEO of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, explained, "It is no mystery, a key component of the community's Christmas celebration is the local businesses, volunteers, organizations and residents who help bring the season to life each year. Our small business owners welcome visitors, neighbors share longtime traditions and families gather along the Hill Country Mile to create the kind of personal, small-town Christmas experience that has become synonymous with Boerne."

Boerne does not aim to be the biggest Christmas destination; instead, it builds its holiday traditions around what makes it special year-round: the historic Hill Country Mile, locally owned businesses, the Texas Hill Country setting, and a welcoming spirit that makes visitors feel like part of the community. This approach has earned Boerne a spot in the contest, offering the potential for national recognition as a top Christmas town.
