Atlanta Community Food Bank Appoints New Board Members to Address Rising Food Insecurity

The Atlanta Community Food Bank, the central hub in the fight against hunger in metro Atlanta and north Georgia, has named four new members to its Governing Board and two to its Advisory Board, effective July 1, 2026. These appointments come at a critical time as the organization projects that over 900,000 people in its service area will be food insecure.

Kyle Waide, President & CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, expressed gratitude for the new members' commitment. "We are honored to welcome our new Board members, who bring their professional expertise and dedication to our community, to the Food Bank," Waide said. "We are incredibly grateful to this group of leaders for their commitment to service and for joining us in our mission to fight hunger, making vital resources more accessible for our neighbors in need. We look forward to their guidance and collaboration as we work to amplify the impact of the Food Bank as a critical part of the food ecosystem."

The new Governing Board members, who will serve three-year terms, include Danielle Fallin, Dean of the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University; Marshall Guest, Chief Strategy Officer at the Metro Atlanta Chamber; Noel Baber, VP & CFO of Kaiser Permanente Georgia; and Vonetta Daniels, Founder & Principal of VYD and Associates. These individuals bring expertise in public health, business strategy, finance, and consulting, which will be instrumental in guiding the Food Bank's initiatives.

In addition, Christine Connor, Managing Partner and Founder at Switch Consulting Group, has been elected as the Advisory Board Vice Chair. Joining her as new Advisory Board members are Jay Ritchie, President & CEO of Tokio Marine HCC, and Kevin Autie, Senior Manager at Gas South. Their diverse backgrounds will contribute to the Food Bank's efforts to enhance food access across its 29-county service area.

The appointments underscore the Food Bank's commitment to making food assistance more convenient, consistent, frequent, and equitable. With the projected rise in food insecurity, the organization is leveraging the expertise of these leaders to expand its reach and impact. The Food Bank works with more than 700 community-based nonprofit partners to provide healthy food to families, children, and seniors. In 2023, it distributed its one billionth meal, a milestone that highlights its ongoing dedication to ending hunger.

These new board members will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies to address the root causes of hunger and ensure that all neighbors in the region have access to nutritious meals. Their leadership is expected to strengthen partnerships and drive innovative solutions in the fight against food insecurity.
