Aspen Healthcare has been named Best of Denton County 2026 in both Home Health and Hospice categories, marking the sixth consecutive year the North Texas healthcare organization has received this community distinction. The award, determined by resident nominations and votes, carries particular weight in a region where the healthcare landscape is rapidly evolving.
Denton County's population has surged to an estimated 1.06 million, an 18% increase since 2020, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This growth has attracted more than 200 Medicare-certified home health and hospice agencies within a 25-mile radius of Denton. Against such competition, repeated recognition by residents signals a provider's deep community integration and trust.
Sukhu George, CEO of Aspen Healthcare, attributes the 2026 wins to the organization's commitment to expanding services that meet patients where they are—at home. "Home health and hospice are intensely personal services," George said. "Families remember the nurse who came to their home, the therapist who helped them get stronger, and the hospice team that was there during one of the most important times in their lives. This recognition really belongs to our staff."
A key factor in Aspen's success is its growing palliative care program, which bridges the gap between traditional home health and hospice. Unlike hospice, palliative care can be provided alongside curative treatments and at any stage of a serious illness. Aspen's palliative care teams, including nurse practitioners who can prescribe, help manage symptoms and coordinate care for patients who need more support but may not yet qualify for hospice. This service addresses a critical need for patients with chronic or serious conditions who seek to maintain quality of life while exploring all treatment options.
The expansion of palliative care complements Aspen's existing offerings: home health (skilled nursing and rehabilitation), hospice (comfort-focused care for terminal illness), and home care (personal assistance for daily living). By integrating these services, Aspen provides a continuum of care that adapts to patients' changing needs. "Healthcare keeps moving toward the home, and we intend to keep moving with it," George said. "Our goal is to ensure patients and families have the right support at the right point in their journey."
Aspen Healthcare, founded in 2007 and headquartered in Lewisville, is Medicare-certified and CHAP-accredited. It employs over 200 professionals serving Dallas-Fort Worth, including Denton and Collin counties. The organization's comprehensive services also include in-home primary care, respiratory care, and veteran-centered care.
Best of Denton County, established in 2004, relies on community participation across more than 400 categories. Winners for 2026 were announced on August 26. For Aspen, the dual honors reflect a sustained commitment to community-based care in one of Texas's most dynamic regions.
