Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC) reported an outstanding drill intercept from CDH007, the second hole from a new step-out drill pad at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The results confirm a significant extension of shallow copper-molybdenum mineralization to the northwest, with the mineralized footprint now measuring approximately 1,000 meters by 500 meters, open in all directions and expected to expand further with pending assays from additional holes.
Following high-grade intersections in previous drillholes, a new step-out pad was collared to test the continuity of the Cobrasco Central system. CDH006, drilled southwest, intersected 232 meters at 0.68% Cu, 75 ppm Mo, and 2 g/t Ag from 38 meters. CDH007, drilled northeast from the same pad, returned 292 meters at 0.48% Cu, 62 ppm Mo, and 1.7 g/t Ag from 44 meters, including higher-grade intervals within magmatic breccias. Mineralization begins near-surface and continues uninterrupted to 324 meters, where a fault zone terminates the mineralized host unit.
Two additional step-out holes, CDH008 (completed) and CDH009 (in progress), have been drilled from the same platform to test extensions to the north and northwest, with assays pending. Every drillhole completed to date has reported significant porphyry Cu-Mo intercepts from surface or near-surface to depths of approximately 600 meters. The company noted that the system comprises multiple intrusive phases and mineralization events occurring at or near surface, indicating a potentially world-class copper porphyry complex.
President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: "We continue to rapidly advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme and actively extend the limits of the Cobrasco Central system. Incredibly, after only 7 drillholes the Cu-Mo mineralization footprint already covers an area of 1,000 x 500m, continues to grow with each drillhole and remains open in all directions." He added that preparations are underway for the mobilization of a second drill rig to test further targets and delineate high-grade mineralization.
