ams OSRAM Extends CEO Aldo Kamper's Contract Through 2031, Underpinning Long-Term Strategy in Digital Photonics

The Supervisory Board of ams-OSRAM AG has approved a new contract for CEO Aldo Kamper, extending his term through September 30, 2031, as announced on July 30, 2026. The reappointment, effective October 1, 2026, comes ahead of his previous term's expiration on March 31, 2027, signaling strong board confidence in his leadership since taking the helm in April 2023.

Under Kamper's direction, ams OSRAM has executed a strategic realignment centered on the 'Re-establish the Base' efficiency program, which streamlined operations, strengthened the financial base, and reduced debt. The sale of the non-optical sensing business was completed on July 1, 2026, further sharpening the company's focus on its optical core and emerging digital photonics applications such as augmented reality and data communication.

Dr. Margarete Haase, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, highlighted Kamper's role in positioning ams OSRAM as a leader in digital photonics, a field combining light and sensor technologies. 'With the new contract extending through the end of September 2031, the Supervisory Board reaffirms its full confidence in Aldo Kamper and looks forward to continuing this exceptionally successful collaboration,' she said.

Kamper, a Dutch citizen with a degree in business administration from Maastricht University and an MBA from Stanford University, began his career at OSRAM in 1994. He previously led the Opto Semiconductors business unit, pioneering microLED technology and dynamic front-end lighting, before serving as CEO of Leoni AG from 2018. Since returning to ams OSRAM, he has overseen portfolio optimization and the assignment of clear responsibilities across business units.

This leadership continuity is crucial as ams OSRAM navigates the fast-growing digital photonics market, which underpins megatrends like smart mobility, artificial intelligence, and smart health. The company, with approximately 18,500 employees and over 12,000 patents, reported EUR 3.3 billion in revenues for 2025. Kamper's extended tenure is expected to drive further innovation and profitable growth in the optical core business and adjacent areas.
