Alpha Cognition Inc. (NASDAQ: ACOG) reported second-quarter 2026 results that exceeded expectations, with ZUNVEYL demand accelerating even as payer implementation remained limited. Stonegate Capital Partners updated its coverage on the company, highlighting strong growth in net product revenue, which increased 71% quarter-over-quarter to $6.0 million, and a 37% increase in bottles dispensed to 8,294. June was the strongest month since launch with 2,997 bottles dispensed, and management indicated that growth has continued into the third quarter.
According to Stonegate, the quarter's quality was better than the access backdrop suggests. The growth was driven by underlying demand and commercial execution rather than stockpiling or new formulary wins. This is evidenced by an increase in prescriber numbers, with 1,347 quarterly prescribers and 1,024 repeat prescribers, as well as 1,908 cumulative writers. Long-term care (LTC) facilities also contributed, with 1,095 generating prescriptions during the quarter. This broadening adoption and deepening repeat utilization indicate a growing base of physicians and facilities using ZUNVEYL, which is critical for sustained growth.
Despite the strong demand, downstream pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) implementation remains at approximately 16%, meaning that broader payer access is still an untapped opportunity. Stonegate believes that continued prescriber and facility productivity can drive growth while broader PBM implementation could provide an additional boost. The company is also focusing on cost management, lowering its full-year 2026 research and development (R&D) and selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) guidance to $50 million to $54 million, while maintaining its target of operating profitability by 2027.
Several milestones are on the horizon, including the CONVERGE data expected in the third quarter of 2026, the ongoing RESOLVE study, and the sublingual program, which is gated by comparative pharmacokinetic results. These developments could enhance the company's evidence base and support its commercial efforts. Alpha Cognition is balancing commercial investment with a growing body of clinical data, positioning itself for greater operating leverage.
Stonegate Capital Partners, a capital markets advisory firm, provides investor relations and equity research services. Its affiliate, Stonegate Capital Markets, offers investment banking services. The update on Alpha Cognition reflects a positive outlook on the company's trajectory, emphasizing the potential for growth as payer access expands and clinical data matures.
