The 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and runs until 8 March. It is held concurrently with the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, which opened on 2 March at AsiaWorld-Expo and concludes on 6 March. Together, the two shows feature some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, forming the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace.
Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, highlighted the expansion of the Hall of Fame and the debut of the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. Uzbekistan is participating for the first time with a delegation of 10 companies showcasing gold jewellery. Kent Wong, Chairman of the Fair Organising Committee, emphasized the role of the twin shows in attracting global jewellery professionals for sourcing and networking.
The Hall of Fame has expanded by over 40%, featuring renowned international brands. Turkish exhibitor Hosgor Kuyumculuk presents a 35.5-carat diamond necklace, while the Hall of Extraordinary includes Hong Kong's Glamour Fine Jewelry Enterprise showcasing a bracelet with Colombian emeralds, diamonds, and rubies. The new Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, organized by the World Gold Council, displays harder, lighter, and brighter gold pieces capable of setting gemstones. The Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion highlights crossover craftsmanship between jewellery and watchmaking.
Events celebrating oriental aesthetics include the Hong Kong International Fashion Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition awards, encouraging gold jewellery design for ASEAN and Middle East markets. The inaugural International Fei Cui Jewellery Design Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Jade Association, will be held on 5 March. The Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria presents rare pieces, such as a bi-colour enamel diamond piece from World Coins Co., Ltd., with a history spanning over a century. The Designer Galleria welcomes 10 Korean designers, and about 50 designer exhibitors showcase their work.
The HKTDC continues to nurture local talents through the 27th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition under the theme "Pure Elegance – Natural Beauty." The awards ceremony on 5 March will display winning pieces. To help exhibitors expand into the Chinese Mainland market, the fairs collaborate with Taobao Tmall and, for the first time, Douyin, partnering with influencers for on-site live streaming. A seminar on 7 March will discuss online marketing trends, while a seminar on 5 March will explore how AI and new technologies enhance competitiveness.
Engaging events include a seminar by Dr. Jack Ogden, a distinguished British historian, on the evolution of jewellery craftsmanship.
